All about Merino Coolmesh II (grey-black)
The MERINO COOLMESH II is, alongside the COOLMESH II model (without wool), the thinnest sock model in the WRIGHTSOCK collection. The "crew" version reaches just below the calf.
The MERINO COOLMESH II model combines the pleasant foot climate of fine Merino wool in the outer layer with the moisture-wicking Dri-Wright technical fiber in the inner layer. Since the wool is not against the skin, there is no unpleasant "wool itch" – highly advantageous for allergy-sensitive individuals.
The MERINO COOLMESH II provides slightly more warmth than the COOLMESH II without wool due to the wool used.
Details
Material outer layer: 71% wool, 24% nylon, 5% elastane
Material inner layer: 70% polyester, 26% nylon, 4% elastane
Origin & Husbandry
The WRIGHTSOCK wool comes entirely from sustainable sheep farms directly in the USA. The husbandry of the sheep completely avoids mulesing, a process that is painful for the animals.
The Wrightsock Sock System
The Blister Cycle / How do blisters form?
Everyone can report on the subject of "blisters on the feet" from their own experience. Understanding how blisters actually form is the first step toward better foot health. The blister cycle consists of three factors:
Friction
During sustained running, hiking, or skiing, feet in socks and shoes are exposed to constant movement and friction.
Heat
With persistent movement and friction, feet and socks inside shoes become uncomfortably warm or even hot.
Moisture
Hot feet sweat and soak conventional socks. Damp socks on damp feet increase friction and often result in painful blisters.
The Solution - The Anti-Blister System from Wrightsock
Minimal Friction
The inner and outer layers of WRIGHTSOCK are connected at three points and designed to move in opposition to one another. This allows friction to be absorbed.
Minimal Heat
WRIGHTSOCK do not rub against the skin; instead, the inner sock rubs against the outer sock. Hardly any frictional heat is generated.
Minimal Moisture
The Dri-Wright fiber in the inner sock layer wicks moisture away from the foot very effectively. WRIGHTSOCK keep feet noticeably dry.
